The inclusion of performance indicators in the efficiency audit supports the supervisory board in identifying necessary fields of action to improve the work of the boards. A classification of results on the basis of reference values allows a better assessment of the evaluations achieved and the need for action. The efficiency review can thus further increase the effectiveness of the supervisory board's work and possibly prevent wrong decisions by the supervisory bodies.
